8-vehicle incident on Sidbury Road leaves 3 with serious injuries

A terrible car wreck involving eight vehicles along Sidbury Road in Wilmington, NC, left three with serious injuries on September 9.

Unfortunately, this is not an unusual event. In North Carolina and the United States as a whole, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for persons of every age from 4 to 33. In North Carolina alone in a single year, 1,552 people were killed and 134,472 people were injured in 231,247 reported traffic accidents. Said another way, a traffic accident occurred every 2.3 minutes, one person was injured every 3.9 minutes, and one person was killed every 5.6 hours.
