Be Careful even at Crosswalks

N.C. Gen. Stat. § 20-173 makes it the duty of the driver of a vehicle to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. However, even when you as a pedestrian has the right of way, please continue to be aware of your own surroundings or you could sustain serious personal injury. This person almost waited until it was too late. If you were even partially found at fault, under North Carolina’s contributory negligence statute, you would not be able to recover even against the negligent driver.
